A Clear View of Heaven – a multimedial popbaroque intervention

Dear Mr. Abelin,

Thank you for kindly providing me with continuing information on the development, concept and realization of your project “A Clear View of Heaven“. This has given me the opportunity to gain an insight into this „workshop” stage, and into the conceptual process of your “musictheatrical intervention“.

As the project is in its final phase and will have its opening performance shortly, I would first of all like to take this opportunity to congratulate you! Instead of the arbitrariness and aesthetic truisms that unfortunately characterize many of the so-called “cross-over-productions” - whose aim is mere quick commercial success - your project is carried by a convincing concept of a merge of cultural forms, focusing on the idea of mutual respect and inspiration amongst different musical traditions, and enriched by an impressive synesthetic dimension. “A Clear View of Heaven” is by far the most dynamic and innovative project of the similar attempts I know.

I wish you the very best for a successful premiere in Lucerne, which I will be happy to come to; furthermore, I can well imagine being able to stage your unique musical project in the coming years in a special concert in St. Gallen. In times when we search for ways to involve new audiences, and make necessary attempts to open up the so-called classical music scene to society as a whole, your project has, in my opinion, the potential to become an important and profound messenger.

With kind regards,

Florian Scheiber
